We had a very slow start to the day as we didn’t need to catch our train to Prague until 11am so we took the opportunity to have a sleep in and relax. The train trip took 4 hours and was an opportunity to take in the countryside, finish off and start a few blogs as well as do some reading. I am currently reading Meta Human by Deepak Chopra and it is extremely interesting and is taking my knowledge of consciousness to whole new level.

We arrived in Prague a bit after 3pm and found our way to our botel, no that’s not a spelling error, our hotel is a boat on the Vitava River next to the Jirasek Bridge which is adjacent to the Dancing House and is called the Botel Matylda. The room is very cosy with wood paneling and smells of cricket bats (linseed oil) so I am happy. The view from our windows is straight out onto the river. We are going to enjoy being based here for the next few days.

First thing we noticed when we arrived was the air is much more crisp than Vienna and we will need to rug up tomorrow as the maximum temperature will be 4 with a minimum of -3, it’s currently 5 degrees. I also get a sense we will enjoy this city as it doesn’t appear pretentious and has a good vibe. It’s more like the type of city I enjoy, a bit like Amsterdam, whilst Vienna was very grandiose it really wasn’t what draws me to a city. Anyway, all to there own.

We have just enjoyed our first meal in Prague which was at the Tradice Original Czech Restaurant. Amy had picked the restaurant out during our research into the trip and it didn’t disappoint. On top of our list of food to try here was Svickova which is slow roasted beef tenderloin with a creamy vegetable sauce which was served with cranberries and dumplings including knedliki and knodel. Amy had the Svickova and I tried the beef goulash which was served with homemade potato pancakes (bramboracky) and knedliki. The goulash was excellent but the Svickova was the pick, yummo! Of course we had to have a Czech beer to wash it all down.

After dinner we wandered in a different direction and came across a supermarket, one of our favourite things to do in a new country is check out their supermarkets and McDonalds (not to eat just to look at the menu). Anyway Amy bought a bottle of bubbles and I got some shave cream as I’m getting a bit sick of my whiskers.

So we have now adjourned to our cosy room, Amy is enjoying her bubbles and I’m tapping away on the iPad while listening to some music with the lights of Prague twinkling outside our window.

We are looking forward to getting out and exploring Prague tomorrow.

Dobrou Noc.
