I woke up at around 3.30/4 this morning, this is not unusually for me when I return home from Europe. It generally takes me a few days to get my sleeping pattern back on track, I guess I’m looking forward to some early mornings over the next few days, Ha!

Anyway, we drove home early leaving mum and dads at around 6.30. It was nice to be behind the wheel of a car again. The drive home is always a mixture of quiet reflection on the holiday we just enjoyed and excitement to be almost home again.

We were greeted by Oscar when we arrived home and he was very happy to see us. He really is such a large cat, especially compared to some of the cats we met during our travels. Trudy and Murray dropped Missy home around lunch time and she couldn’t stop wiggling as she does when she is so excited.

We have unpacked all our stuff and happy that all our presents and purchases have made the trip home unscathed. Tonight has been a night of relaxing and while enjoying the company of our animals.

I feel a great sense of gratitude. We have thoroughly enjoyed the last 5 weeks travelling to the Netherlands, Iceland and Central Europe. We have learned so much, ate some delicious food, spent time with people we love and visited some amazing and inspiring places. We are truly blessed to have the opportunity to travel and I am eternally grateful for the experiences and memories it creates.

It’s now time to get back into life at home … and start planning the next trip! Where that will be I’m not sure. I am really drawn to Bhutan and would love to travel there. I’d also love to visit my cousin Susanne and her wife Elizabeth which would mean heading stateside as they live near San Diego.

But for now, it’s time to spoil Oscar and Missy and look forward to  celebrating Christmas with family and friends.

Much love, all the best.
